Professional Development

The Cardston Elementary School community participated in two wonderful professional activities that showed staff, students and parents a myriad of ways to promote lifelong healthy attitudes and behaviors.

In January 2010, the Healthy Weights Team in Lethbridge, Health Teacher Tamara VanCleave, Ever Active Schools and Fit for Life (Lethbridge College) came to our school and educated staff on the fun and exciting ways to encourage healthy eating and daily physical activity. It was a fun filled day where the rubber chickens got the best of most of us!

On February 9, 2010, several CES students, teachers and parents attended the Ever Active School Health Symposium in Lethbridge. Students shared ideas with students from Southern Alberta schools. Staff, students and parents brainstormed many ways how they can help the school community become healthy, active and happy. Students involved in the symposium expressed interest in attending the 2010/11 symposium.
